  • Needajob: the local grocery store where I live has been slowly bringing out Halloween candy (Brach's Autumn Mix bag candy/Candy Corn starts showing up more around this time).

  • Sally, I don't see dollar stores like Dollar Tree going by the wayside once the economy picks up. You still have people on fixed incomes like Seniors, as well as people who look for bargains.

  • I think self checkout lanes have their place in stores. Where I live, all the grocery stores have a few self checkout lanes, but sometimes you will see people using them for a cart full of groceries instead of maybe 10-15 items or less. For small grocery trips, they're great to have.
